My Journey to Recovery: Love Carries Me!

July 20, 2026

Dear Diary,

Tuesday, 14th July 2026 - I walked through the hospital doors for my very first chemo treatment and my heart was so full of mixed emotions — nerves, quiet hope, and so much gratitude. No complaint for the life- I have been absolutely wrapped in love these past days. So many kind wishes, thoughtful cards, flowers, and that generous food parcel arrived right when I needed it most. Every single gesture has lifted my spirits more than I can say — they are the boost that carries me through.

But the moment that truly moved me most was seeing the chemo bag my daughter had prepared for me to take to the hospital. When I opened it, I was swept straight back down memory lane, exactly to the day I packed my own bag for her arrival —going in for maternity, Kwong Wah Hospital, Hong Kong.

My daughter had thought of every single tiny detail, just as I did all those years ago. Inside was everything I could possibly need: a warm hot water bottle, a small fan for comfort, soothing lip gloss, soft hand cream, a cosy blanket, extra warm socks, and so many more little things I hadn’t even thought of myself. It was packed with care, right down to the very last item. In that moment, looking at all, she had done, I felt so deeply — the little girl I once held in my arms has grown into the one holding me now. Truly, my children are the greatest blessing life has ever given me.

What I have learnt most is: Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is let others care us, just as we cared for them. This treatment is temporary, the hard days will end, but the love and care walks bedsides us- the strength we have found - will stay forever! Thank you, everyone!

Keep you posted, until the next post!

Love,

Lara
