About Me

Who I Am and What I Do

Namaste!
I’m Laxmi, also known as Lara in creative spaces. I am a registered social worker and founder of Junkiri Candles. My journey centres on a passion for education, gender equality, and community-driven change. I am also associated as a freelancer with Gini London, an independent British Women's Fashion Brand specialising in Stylish-Feminine fashion.
I hold an MA in Education, Gender, and International Development from University College London (UCL). This foundation guides my daily work—teaching Nepali language to diaspora children, consulting on community projects, or writing poetry. In every medium, I aim to uplift marginalised voices and honour cultural heritage.
Sustainable change begins at the grassroots level. Guided by this belief, I initiated:
  • Junkiri Initiative: It produces sustainable, handmade candles to support local artisans by creating income opportunities and raising awareness of ethical practices.
Life, for me, is a canvas for collaboration and storytelling. When not engaged in teaching, writing, or community projects, I enjoy making claypot candles.
